ConversationsRadio Episode 110

Bettina Devin
Actress / Coach

Friday, September 17, 2021

Mike Dowler and cohost VO actress Emma Berman  welcomed
actress, voiceover artist and coach  Bettina Devin to

ConversationsRadio!

We are thrilled to have featured actress Bettina Devin - bettinadevin.com to ConversationsRadio. Based in the San Francisco bay area, Bettina has spent the last 40 years entertaining audiences on stage, tv and film. However, initially it was music and a talent competition win that lead Bettina to being booked as a headliner at San Diego’s top jazz club, The Catamaran.
Her musical focus back in the day was Jazz, Pop and Broadway. A standout moment and honor was being  guest vocalist
on-stage with the world renowned San Francisco Symphony.

While pursuing music, Bettina discovered acting and booked her first professional play as a member of L.A.’s oldest continually-operating theatre company in Los Angeles, Theatre West. I think it’s safe to say that her career path had been chosen.

She has gone on to appear in numerous tv and film projects and passes on her knowledge and experience as an acting, voiceover and singing coach. Bettina (often described as a chameleon) remains a working actress and is consistanly books. She casts, produces, and directs. Bettina Devin’s students can currently be seen and heard regularly on Broadway, Off-Broadway, national commercials, sitcoms, episodic television, web series, and in principal roles in major feature films. As well, Bettina Devin has landed numerous national voiceover campaigns and can be heard on projects for Leapfrog, Disney Records, NBC, ABC, the Coca Cola Museum and more.

As a acting coach, she works with both new and established artists. Mentoring and prepairing actors, singers and voiceover artists. She is proud of her students and wants them to succed. Her longtime student,
Austin Scott starred as Alexander Hamilton in 'Hamilton' on Broadway, just wrapped shooting a principal role in Tyler Perry’s newest dramatic feature. Her student, Emma Berman, voices the lead voice of Giulia Marcovaldo in Disney Pixar’s 'Luca' and can be heard as Winifred Wings in 'Go! Go! Cory Carsen' and Kristina Ho is recurring as Betty Burke, on the new 'Power Rangers' series.

It is wonderful to see Bettina share what she's learned with others - helping actors, singers and voiceover artists reach their full potential. Her successes are many and her resume' reflects that. Bettina Devin has no plans of slowing down.

About the Cohost

Emma_03.jpg

Emma Berman

Actress and voiceover artist Emma Berman returns to ConversationsRadio to cohost episode 110 featuring her voiceover mentor and coach Bettina Devin.
Emma joined us back in July, 2021
on Ep.103. Well known as the voice of 'Giulia Marcovaldo' in Disney Pixar’s animated feature 'LUCA' Emma got her start in musical theatre at 8 and quickly embraced the arts in San Francisco appearing in productions of Annie, Gypsy as well
A Christmas Carol at San Francisco’s renowned ‘
American Conservatory Theater.’
While getting her feet wet in musical theatre, she launched her voiceover career lending her voice to a number to Leapfrog educational products and continued honing her voiceover skills.

Things began to happen in late 2019 when Emma was asked to audition for an upcoming Pixar animated feature.  Working with well known bay area voiceover acting coach Bettina Devin, Emma brushed up on Italian and pronunciation. She did some additional research at her favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant. Emma then recorded the initial audition
on an iPhone. Pixar liked what they heard and wanted to hear more. The wheels were in motion and Emma Berman went into the studio once again - recording another audition which led to an in-person callback at Pixar in Emeryville, California. Emma went on to book the role and made her feature film debut as the voice
of ‘Giulia’ in Disney Pixar’s Luca and the rest is history. From the start, Emma made the character her own and embraces the similarities between Giulia and herself.

Emma is also known as the voice of  'Winifred Wings' on the Emmy-Winning animated series Go! Go! Cory Carsen

"Emma is without a doubt one of the most determined, unfailingly positive, uber bright of my students. She has a voracious appetite for learning. Her undeniable and innate charm comes from the fact that all that is wrapped up in the body of a still little girl, open to everything and non-judgmental. The abundant humility is not an act. It’s real!"
